COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines (Check with your Coordinator for any other requirements specific to this site)
Beautiful, historic New Bern, North Carolina, is one of the many sites around the world where God has chosen to “place His name” this year (Deut. 14:23). Located on the Carolina coast, at the confluence of the Neuse and Trent rivers, New Bern is the second-oldest European settled colonial town in North Carolina. New Bern was settled by Swiss immigrants in 1710 and is famous for its history and beauty. From “Tryon Palace” (the old “Governor’s Mansion” which served as the capital of North Carolina in the late 1700s), to the North Carolina History Center, the “birthplace of Pepsi store”, to the many quaint shops, restaurants, gardens, numerous decorated “New Bern Bear” statues, and other historic buildings such as Stanley House, and the New Bern Firemen’s Museum, downtown New Bern will be a wonderful location to enjoy and explore with your spiritual family. Daily services will be held at the beautiful New Bern Riverfront Convention Center and many members will be staying at the Bridgepointe Hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott New Bern, and the various VRBO, AirBnB and Bed & Breakfast options.
We will continue to work with the convention center to ensure that local and state guidelines associated with the Covid-19 crisis are complied with. By Feast-time, guidelines will likely include, but not be limited to, “no-touch” temperature checks prior to entering the convention center, wearing facial coverings while at services, and the 6-foot seating distance requirement between non-household members. Additionally, as mentioned above, extra attention should be applied to the long-standing, Biblical practice of not attending services if ill or exhibiting symptoms of any contagion, until fully recovered. It is planned to provide a livestream and a telephone link for those who need to stay away from services, or who become ill during the Feast.
